Online reviews are a relatively new and powerful technique for engaged couples to research wedding vendors. The use of online reviews has exploded in the past five years thanks to the popularity of sites like The Knot, WeddingWire, Yelp and MyWedding. Couples expect wedding vendors to have online reviews - and preferably, lots of them. Well-reviewed wedding professionals are typically rewarded with new bookings.
Particularly when a wedding reception has a super hot dance floor, we are eager for couples to share their experience in the form of an online review. However, getting couples to review us can be elusive. It's hard to pinpoint an exact reason, but I suppose that in some consumers' eyes the relationship with the DJ ends with the last song of the reception. Trying to understand his frame of mind, suppose that I hired a plumber. Yes, I would be happy that he was personable, arrived on time and unclogged my drain - but afterwards, would I be eager to review his services on a plumbing review site? Probably not - particularly if it took much time out of my busy day or required a lengthy registration process. Let's face it, I am not as passionate about plumbing as a plumber. If the plumber offered me an incentive to write a review, I would be somewhat favorably disposed to write the review. And if the plumber repeatedly asked me to review his services, yes, at some point I would become annoyed!
Following is a fun list of reasons that you should review your wedding vendors, delivered countdown style....Read more

If the topic of love is a songwriter favorite, then the topic of women can't be far behind. This playlist features songs written in honor of a woman. For example, Michelle (the Beatles), Peg (Steely Dan) and Gloria (Laura Branigan). The playlist starts on a slow and romantic note before enjoying an extended classic rock segment and an upbeat finish. More than an academic exercise, the songs selected needed to stand on their own merit - they are songs that we would consider for any wedding cocktail hour playlist!
Ambient DJ continues its tradition of selecting a signature drink for each wedding cocktail hour playlist. In honor of "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by the Looking Glass (a band formed in New Brunswick NJ), we've selected the "Brandy Alexander" - a tasty mixed drink that combines cognac and creme de cacao. Cheers!Read more

Women have inspired many a songwriter as evidenced by popular songs like Sweet Caroline, Proud Mary and Runaround Sue. We thought it would be fun to come up with a song about a woman for each letter of the alphabet. It was generally easy - although a few letters threw us for a loop.
Check out the list that follows, and please leave a comment with additional song selections, or simply to tell us who the coolest woman in music is!Read more

Life is full of beautiful colors. The diverse world of color has inspired many songwriters through the ages. The following playlist includes songs about color in general and specific shades and combinations of color. However, this playlist is more than an academic exercise. That is, the songs selected needed to stand on their own merit - they are songs that we would consider for any wedding cocktail hour playlist!
For those readers who crave more music about colors, we recommend the epic album "Colors" by acclaimed voice-over artist Ken Nordine, who riffs about colors ranging from chartreuse to puce over cool jazz riffs. We've honored Nordine by placing one of his songs in the playlist.
Ambient DJ continues its tradition of selecting a signature drink for each wedding cocktail hour playlist. Let's go with a shot of the distinctive Swiss cinammon schnapps, "Goldschlager."Read more

Disney - its characters, theme parks and movies - are engrained in American culture. Many families religiously return to Disney to experience the magic again and again. The following playlist showcases the most popular music from Disney's movies (primarily animated films). The mix starts slow and nostalgic, before visiting modern Disney movies right up to the hugely popular current hit "Frozen."
The music of Disney is familiar to a wide variety of ages, and should provide a rich and satisfying experience for your wedding guests. Use the entire playlist for your cocktail hour, or else sprinkle in selections for dinner music - of course opening your buffet line to "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast. Numerous songs from the list below have also been used at weddings for parent dances (e.g., You've Got a Friend in Me, Baby Mine).

New York City, the "Big Apple" is a thriving financial and cultural center. Adjacent to our company's home state of New Jersey, we've spent much time in New York City, both on business and pleasure. The following playlist compiled by our DJ Gregg Ambient includes New York-themed songs, selections from the jazz clubs of Greenwich Village, songs from the theater district (Broadway) and cuts by New York-based musicians like Alicia Keys.
Ambient DJ continues its tradition of selecting a signature drink for each wedding cocktail hour playlist. Since we previously used The Manhattan for a playlist, we've opted to select a once hugely popular martini known as "The Bronx." In the midst of the disco craze and stadium rock bands of the era, the 1970s also featured a wealth of pleasing and mellower fare - we'll call it "soft rock." The playlist that follows - curated by our DJ Iron Mike - compiles the best sounds of the decade. Remember bands like Steely Dan, America, Chicago, Ambrosia and England Dan & John Ford Coley? Iron Mike does!
Ambient DJ continues its tradition of selecting a signature drink for each wedding cocktail hour playlist. The 1970s was a simpler era that pre-dated craft beers and fancy cocktails. Thus, we've selected Miller High Life (aka, "The Champagne of Beers") as the accompany signature "cocktail" to this playlist. Most likely served from an aluminum can!Read more

This cocktail hour playlist will appeal to fans of downtempo electronica, trip hop, mushroom jazz, acid jazz, soul and funk. Many of the selected tracks fuse jazz with electronic soundscapes. The tail end of the mix features groovy acid jazz tracks with hip hop influences.
For those seeking an upscale, moody lounge atmosphere for a wedding cocktail hour or other celebration, this selection of tracks will be right up your alley!
Ambient DJ continues its tradition of selecting a signature drink for each wedding cocktail hour playlist. In a tribute to acid jazz’s UK origins, we've selected a Gimlet made with a dry London gin - we suggest Boodles. To learn how to mix a gimlet, click here.Read more
